The last book gives me the impression that he was indeed tired of it and had written that one because the publisher insisted rather than because he wanted to. Too bad, because the first three are quite good. <br /><br />And the classic disappointing series end, to me, is what Agatha Christie did to Poirot in Curtain! Also sorry to read the last of Julian May's Pleistocene exile saga, though there were some things that could have been cut from the series.
